Dr. Giuseppe Saglio graduated from, and then studied internal medicine at the University of Turin, hematology at the University of Milan, and molecular biology at the University of Leiden, Inserm-Creteil, Paris and at the University of California. Dr. Saglio is a professor of internal medicine and hematology at the University of Turin and director of the Department of Internal Medicine and head of the Division of Hematology at the San Luigi University Hospital (University of Turin) in Italy.

Dr. Saglio is coordinator of the PhD program in molecular medicine at the University of Turin, past-president of the Italian Society of Experimental Hematology (SIES), and is a member of the Academy of Medicine of Turin. He has published more than 400 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of molecular pathogenesis of hematological malignancies, molecular medicine applied to clinical medicine, and the molecular basis of thalassemia and related hemoglobinopathies.
